Another Great Review!!
Sick and tired of spending so much time doing your nails to have them chip and peel within hours of application? Spending countless dollars at the salon when you know you could do it yourself if you just had the right tools? Well now you can with the Sephora by OPI Gelshine At-Home Gel Colour System!
I was ecstatic on Christmas morning to unveil the Sephora by OPI Gelshine kit. Of course since product promises the world I was skeptical, but this system really works!
It is applied just like regular nail polish. Base coat, two coats of polish and a top coat. The only difference is the 30 second UV light curing in between these steps. It takes approximately 15 minutes per hand and once they are done they are completely dry!!! No chipping, peeling or scratching, just beautifully colored nails for up to 2 weeks! (Depending on how quick your nails grow of course) I get a solid 10 days worth of perfectly manicured nails before I would even consider re-doing them.
My favorite thing about having gel nail polish on is that it supports your nails so they don’t chip or break. They continue to grow and for once in my life I have naturally long nails! Bonus!
If I could give any tip or trick about this product, it would be to keep the polish away from the edges and base of you nails. It will grow out much nicer and less is more with this product.
My ultimate favorite color is I only shop vintage. It is a very soft light champagne gold color with gold sparkles. I find it perfect for a night out as well as subdued enough for daily wear. Which is important to concider when choosing a color as you will have it on for a while.
The starter kit retails at Sephora for $189 CAD. A bit hefty compared to some other brands, by well worth the money since it actually performs as it claims.
I would love to hear if any of you have tried this or any other system and if they’ve worked for you. As well as any tips you may have!
First of all – I’m loving this blog. Second of all – I’m hooked on gel. But I am not hooked on the 2 hours of my life that I have to kill going to a salon. My issue is this – how hard/miserable is it to take off?

It’s really not that bad…in fact, I quite enjoy it because it makes me sit down and relax while it soaks off. The trick is not to rush it, and file it down a bit first with a buffer. If you wait long enough, when you pull off the “soakers” they scrap right off. Next time I do it, I will take some picks and update the post. I will let you know when I’ve done it 🙂

I have been considering this set but can’t bring myself to shell out that much cash for it. Thanks for the review, I will definitely consider it a little harder!
