Must haves for a day at the beach!

It’s never too early to prepare for the summer!

Keep reading to see what my must have products are for some fun in the sun! Including the BEST Waterproof Mascara you’ll ever try!

beach outfit

Metallic flip flops are all the rage and they are super easy to pair with almost any outfit. They don’t have to cost a fortune either…check out these flip flops from the GAP.

When I head to the beach, I always wear a free flowing cotton dress. Something that can be slipped on and off easily and washing machine friendly is must for a beach outfit! Victoria Secret has a great selection of beach dresses this year!

I probably own over 2 dozen bikinis, and I love them all but when I know I am going to spend extra time in the sun I make sure I wear one that doesn’t have frills, isn’t high wasted, and minimal straps! Picking the right bikini can be the difference between coming home with nasty tan lines or sexy ones 🙂

I love these blue RayBan Aviators! Super hot and they come in different colors! Protect your eyes not only by wearing sun glasses, but don’t leave them out when applying sunscreen.

Top off the look with a hat. A floppy sunhat, a baseball cap, a fedora or even a sombrero! Olé! Whatever hat you choose, remember that wearing a hat not only protects your delicate face from the sun but also protects your hair!  Think about it…it’s like spending the entire day under a blowdryer!

I always make sure my beach bag is super cute! This is because often it’s the only accessory you’ll be sporting at the beach. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this Michael Kors Nautical bag!

What’s in the bag??

SunscreenClinique sunscreen

My personal favorites are Clinique’s Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen Body Cream  and Khiels Super Fluid UV Defense SPF 50 for face.  I always make sure I use a stronger SPF on my face because I DON’T WANT WRINKLES!…or more wrinkles may be a more suiting comment 😦

face sunscreenMake sure your Sunscreen is waterproof and oil free. Why oil free you ask since I’m always on about how wonderful oil is for your skin?? Well, being in the sun (I’m talking excessive sun, like a day at the beach) can cause lots of reactions on your skin.  Most commonly, heat rash or prickly heat. Heat rash is tiny little bumps that are itchy and unsightly…especially when you are at the beach and wearing next to nothing, you want your skin to look its best.  Anyway, Oil actually helps heat rash develop as your natural sweat will have trouble escaping your body through the oil that is in your skin. So please, whenever possible, use oil free 🙂

Lip Balm with SPFfresh lip balm

Don’t forget to protect your lips! These get awfully wrinkly as well as you age…so slather on the lip balm! My ultimate favorite are the Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 from Fresh.  They come in all sorts of flavors and colors and are jam packed with stuff to treat, protect and PLUMP! Triple Threat!

Waterproof Mascara

UD Cannonball mascaraI’m not one to wear makeup to the beach, since it’s just going to melt right off anyway but there is always a place for mascara on this face 🙂

Try Urban Decays Cannonball ultra waterproof mascara! It really is amazing!

 Thermal Waterthermal-spring-water-150ml-expanded

Ok ladies…if you haven’t tried this yet, you are missing out! Avene Thermal Water is a quick easy way to replenish moisture and balance your skins pH.  It is super calming and soothing and can be used for a multitude of things. I always bring this to the beach with me and spray my it all over my body as needed. I also use it after a day in the sun to soothe my sun-kissed skin. This product can be used on even the most sensitive of skin…even babies!

cosmo magLiterature

There’s nothing better than relaxing in the warm sun and reading a current magazine, or a romance novel. Even better when there’s a pool boy fetching you daiquiris 🙂

Waterproof Cell Phone Casephone

Seriously one of my favorite purchases this year! Take your phone under water for some cool pics! Plus, you can relax knowing that your phone is safe from that dreaded water damage that isn’t covered by your insurance!

Stay hydrated! It is so sooo important! Not only for your skin but your overall health 🙂 Bottoms up!sun1

  2. I need that bikini in my life! We are experiencing some abnormally warm weather here in Seattle, so I may just get to break out a few of my bikinis! Love this post 🙂
