Pure and Simple SkinCare Review

Pure and Simple Natural Skincare

Natural Skincare is definitely creating a lot hype in today’s world. More and more people are turning to natural alternatives not just for skincare but any product that contains chemicals or harsh additives from cleaning supplies to food! People are looking for a more Pure and Simple approach to life in general…no pun intended 😉 So naturally, when I was contacted by Pure and Simple Skincare to try out their line I was super excited.

With two Pure and Simple Spas located in the Toronto area, they offer a wide range of products for all skin types and concerns.  They really focus on your skin as an individual and educating you on ingredients, health and proper care. They also have small makeup line! Perfect for anyone with sensitive skin! Below you find my review on the products I tested. I have oily skin with hormonal break outs and the products were chosen specifically for me and my skin by one of their beauty experts 🙂

Organic Vanilla Cleansing Powder ~ $24.99CAD

Claimed Benefits:

Ayurveda-inspired Organic Vanilla Cleansing Powder! Being extremely versatile, this earthy powder can function as a basic cleanser, a mask, and as a scrub to help draw out impurities while renewing and healing the skin.

 Victoria’s Impression:

My first question when looking at this product was “What does it do?”

On the back it gives a list of ingredients as most products do but zero directions or what it’s used for.

I did look it up and it can be a face cleanser, a face mask or a scrub when mixed with water.  I tried it but honestly, I’d stick to the pure and simple cucumber mask and sensitive face wash before I’d try the powder the again. Just too messy and not easy to apply.

Sensitive Skin Face Wash ~ $19.99CAD

 Claimed Benefits:

Safe for babies and the most delicate skin, this gel-based cleanser is gentle yet clarifying enough to clean pores and keep blemishes at bay! It is a great alternative to the Sensitive Skin Cleansing Milk, especially if a cream cleanser may be too rich.

 Victoria’s Impression:

I really enjoyed this cleanser. It cleaned my face thoroughly and did not over dry my skin like many other face washes for blemish prone skin.

Witch Hazel Hydrosol ~ $21.95CAD

 Claimed Benefits:

This gentle yet effective toner is great for reducing blemishes and regulating oil production. This hydrosol is ideal for oily or acneic skin types as well as people with inflamed or irritated skin.

 Victoria’s Impression:

I have fallen in love with this toner! Very natural. Straight up witch hazel! It definitely kept my oily skin from turning into an oil slick through out the day. Plus, with its multiple benefits for your skin and you can spray any time of the day for a quick tone and hydrate!.  A great little bottle to keep in your purse.

Hydration Serum ~ $44.95CAD

 Claimed Benefits:

Say goodbye to flaky and reactive skin! This nutrient-rich serum will recharge your skin at the cellular level with its soothing and hydrating properties.

 Victoria’s Impression:

Once again, no explanation on the back of the product as to what it’s claiming to do or any directions. So back to the internet I went.  I didn’t find it soothing at all like it claims.

It’s a little sticky and after I washed my faced and toned, my face felt very light and clean but when I applied the serum, my skin felt sticky and heavy and for that reason only, I wouldn’t use it again. Different skin types may benefit from it, so not a total thumbs down but not for me.

Pure Skin Face Lotion ~ $25.95CAD

Claimed Benefits:

This medium-weight moisturizer is full of anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory ingredients to normalize your skin and reduce the appearance of acne and acne scars

Victoria’s Impression:

Love the pump bottle it comes in. Very easy to use.  The cream itself is quite light which I enjoyed.  My face felt refreshed after application and when I put my foundation over top it blended quite nicely.  I most certainly purchase this moisturizer again.

Calming Cucumber Mask ~ $25.25CAD

Claimed Benefits:

Goodbye dry and sensitive skin! This ultra-soothing mask is great for all skin types. Best known for its hydrating and calming properties, this cooling gel will soon be your go-to skin saver!

 Victoria’s Impression:

I really loved this product.  It went on smoothly and was not sticky at all.  Since you have to keep it on your face for 15-20mins, it does start to harden a bit but not too much like some masks where you feel like your face is going to crack.   The best part for me was that it went on clear, so if I wanted to take my kids to school with this mask on, I totally could.  Bonus!

~ Victoria’s Verdict ~

As I suffer from oily, blemish prone skin, the products I tested and reviewed were for just that. After using these products for over a month, I have to say I was quite impressed. I did not break out and my oily skin was definitely regulated during this time. I would recommend this line to anyone who suffers from blemishes and/or oily skin as they tend to go hand in hand. Having it be a natural line is also fantastic! With oily skin types, the products out there can be quite harsh and damaging to your skin so whenever you have the chance to use natural products that work, do so! Your skin will thank you in the long run.

I would however, like to see more consistency in their packaging labels which would include a list of ingredients, benefits and directions on how to use.
