Do you suffer from Stretch Marks, Cellulite, or Aging Skin? Trust me you aren’t alone! I am hear to share with you how to treat and prevent these pesky little problems that us as woman are far too familiar with. Better yet, I’m going to share with you how I do it on a budget!I have always suffered from serious dry skin. I kid you not, I have probably tried every moisturiser out there, so my advice today comes from a place of the utmost experience! Then as I got older, I started having children and just aging in general, other skin problems started to show. Cellulite, strech marks, wrinkles…the list goes on!
Of course your best way to treat these problems is to not get them in the first place. I urge all of you younger girls reading this right now to start moisturizing your skin. It is so important to keep your skin tight and youthful looking as long as you can. Dry Skin = Old Skin. Remember that if nothing else.
For some of us, like myself, I blinked and aged a decade over night. Where the hell does time go? I thought my skin was going to look amazing forever, but holy sh!t was I wrong. So let me take you through my regime and I will explain why each step is so important.
First of all, exfoliate ladies! Get rid of all that dead skin laying on your body so that your lotions and potions can absorb properly and you can get the most out of them. While I’d like to advise everyone to moisturize twice a day, I know this can be tough between work, kids, school, laundry, bedtime stories and dishes. But please, if anything, slather moisturiser on every single time you get out of the shower. This is when your body needs it the most! And do so as soon as you have dried yourself off, and before opening the bathroom door (to keep the steam in) to lock in that moisture!
Lets talk about that budget friendly way to take care of your skin I promised earlier. Moisturizers are expensive. There is no doubt in that. As well, of course the ones we’d like to use are usually the most expensive! So my little trick is simple really…only use those pricy lotions where you need them most and use a cheaper alternative for the rest of your body 🙂 Your moisturizers will last you so long that putting out that extra expense now seems to fit that budget as you won’t need to replenish very often.
Get Rid of Strech Marks: Stretch Marks are the bane of my existence! I don’t have a ton but enough to keep me from wearing a bikini and when you work hard to keep in good shape its a real shame to have that insecurity. For the last couple months I have been using Solution For Scars, a lotion that not only works on all sorts of unsightly scars but stretch marks as well! Well I can’t say that my stretch marks have remarkably vanished, I have however noticed that they seem ‘blurred’ for lack of a better word. They are certainly less noticeable. I will continue to use this solution and expect even better results with more time.
Get Rid of Cellulite: This past early spring was the first time I noticed…CELLULITE! What?! How did this happen? And i’m not talking just when my legs are crossed, it’s all the time, it’s there, on the back of my thighs and working it’s way to my A$$! So I picked up Philosophy’s Firming Body Emulsion and have been rubbing on this $50 cream to just the back of my thighs every day since. I couldn’t believe it, but it was actually working!!! So fifty bux for a moisturizer is outrageous in my opinion, especially since it takes a lot to cover an entire body, but by only applying it to the needed areas I have only gone through a third of the bottle in 7 months. So this bottle will last me almost 2 years, now THAT I can justify.
Keep your chest looking young: Your chest, other than your hands and face of course is the most exposed part of your body so it ages faster that the rest of the skin on your body, so you are going to want to take extra special care of this delicate area. Aside from applying sunscreen everyday, there are other ways to keep this skin looking it’s best. I use Mario Badescu’s Papaya body lotion on my chest every day. It contains exfoliating Alpha Hydroxy Acids to keep your skin looking its best by fighting aging while shea butter and rice bran oil keeps the skin soft and moisturised. While it’s $22 price tag isn’t as steep as the body emulsion, holding only 16 ounces this little gem is still a higher priced lotion that I prefer to use sparingly and keep it localized to the chest.
Moisturize your 2000 parts: I may be dating myself by referencing a Lever 2000 commercial from 1991, haha, but for those who remember, we are forever etched with the knowledge that we have 2000 body parts. Whether it’s true or not, none the less, we have a lot of skin to cover and Aveeno Moisturizing lotion is the way to go! So go ahead and cover the rest of your body parts with a moisturizer that will keep your skin healthy and smooth all day long without that greasy feel. Aveeno is a natural brand so you can feel good about what you are allowing to absorb into your skin. It is carried at most drugstores so it is easily available and it costs a fraction of the latter products. It’s triple oat complex not only relieves dry, itchy skin but also enhances the skins moisture barrier for 24 hours. Perfect for dry knees and elbows as well as soothing your beautiful legs post shaving.
