There’s a new brush hitting the shelves at Sephora promising to take the guess work out of blending and assuring, effortless, beautifully blended foundation and face powders. Gone are the days when you had to get a professional makeup artist to do your makeup to get that flawless, airbrushed look. With the blendSMART brush, even beginners can achieve professional looking results in seconds.
So what sets this brush apart from all the others? It’s Electric! It rotates doing all the blending for you making your finished look seamless and streak free every single time.
Lets jump ahead and talk about the blendSMART features, what I think are it’s best and worst qualities and i’ll share with you a makeup trick that this brush is perfect for!
The blendSMART is an automated rotating makeup brush with a motorized brush handle that easily allows you interchange brush heads. It spins 360° and spins at 190 RPM, which is a decent speed, I don’t think I would want it any faster or slower for that matter.
The brush handle is sold in a starter pack and comes with the foundation brush head for $119.00CAD. Also available is a Powder and Blush Brush head, sold separately at $42.ooCAD. Now available at Sephora.
How To Use the blendSMART Brush~
Since the brush is doing the spinning/buffing/blending for you, you simply move the brush up-and-down as well as side-to-side rather than circular motions.
The blendSMART foundation brush can be used with liquids, powders or creams and its ability to blend out the product so well means you don’t need to use as much product making you look more natural and saving you $$$! Use that extra cash to pick up a new foundation at House of Fraser!
When using liquids, apply foundation directly to face in dots on all parts of the face. Then start the blending process.
When using powders, make sure the brush is turned off when getting the product on the brush.
To change out the brush heads, you simply pop off the one that is on there by pulling up on the base of the brush head and pop in the one you want. It’s super simple and the brush heads come in and out with ease all while staying secure while the brush is spinning.
How To Clean blendSMART Brush heads~
The Brush Heads are also super easy to clean. Remove them from the base and wash as you would with any other makeup brush. I have washed both the foundation and blush brush heads a few times already and they bounced right back to their original shape.
blendSMART Automated Makeup Brush Review~
I gave the foundation and blush head a spin (no pun intended 😉 ) and while I really like the foundation brush, I have mixed feelings on the blush brush.
The Foundation brush is super soft and needs very little pressure to apply and blend. I definitely used far less product and was extremely pleased with it’s ability to blend out my foundation for a streak free, seamless finish. There has been ZERO hair fall out even during the first wash.
The Brush base and heads are very well made and the base is very comfortable to hold.
The Blush brush is also very soft with great density for it’s purpose. I did however, find it too big for my personal preference. Since the blendSMART blush brush blends out the blush rather than dusting it on, I find it covers too much area for my liking.
While it may not be my number one tool to apply blush, it works like a dream to apply bronzer! Also, I found another amazing use for the blush brush head! Have you heard of the buffing technique? It’s where you apply all of your face products, foundation, powder, contour, blush, highlight etc. and as a final step, you take a blending brush with some finishing powder on it and start blending/buffing everything together, taking away all of the hard edges. I know you must be thinking that that is a ton of layers and that it’s going to look like a cakey mess but I assure you the end result is fabulously flawless!
My point being is that the blendSMART blush brush is absolutely PERFECT for this technique! I have been using this technique since I first came upon it on Wayne Goss’ YouTube channel. Using this technique in conjunction with this brush, the finished result is even better! Check out Wayne’s tutorial HERE.
Over all, I am very pleased with the brush. As a brush addict, I am super picky and this brush definitely lives up to my expectations.
